Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group access places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.

Audiences can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
